All too often we are faced with an image of so called ‘perfection’ when we buy glossy magazines. Cover stars are usually young slender models or up and coming Hollywood movie stars who seem to have little or nothing in common with us.
However, Vogue has proudly taken a change in direction for their January cover. As they’ve chosen a cover star whose credentials as an Academy Award Winning actress and Hollywood great could outshine anyone.
Meryl Streep, the actress who has bravely taken on the challenge of portraying Margaret Thatcher in new movie The Iron Lady, has become Vogue’s oldest ever cover model aged 62, which is just magnificent.
Despite being the oldest cover model in the magazines history Meryl looks sensational on the iconic fashion cover. Dressed in a simple grey dress and posing on a rocky beach front with her hair flowing behind her the image is wonderful. Even better it doesn’t hide Meryl’s age but simply enhances how beautiful and influential the actress is.
I think it’s a real turning point seeing Meryl on the cover of US Vogue as a fashion institute is finally showcasing real women who have brilliantly established careers and the advantage of life experience behind them. All projected so tastefully with real perfection.by
